Marine Museum of British Columbia recently held its annual Massive Marine Garage Sale at the Pier A warehouse building at Ogden point (the cruise ship terminal) on Dallas Road Victoria.

The large number of buyers patiently waited in a lineup that snaked its way into the terminal parking lot.

Each member of my group had their list to share with each other. When the doors opened up, we fanned out in search of each other’s items. It wasn’t very long before the text messages helped us zero in on our list of hard-to-find items. I should mention the prices were fantastic.

For those who missed this fantastic event, you need to mark this down on your calendar for next year, right away.

The Marine Museum’s Board would like to thank everyone who came out to support the 13th annual Massive Marine Garage Sale. Also, special thanks to the sponsors. This was another successful event which raised $9000.00 for the Museum.

Mosquito Creek Marina’s 6th annual Boat Show at the Creek promises to bring at least 150 power and sailboats to the North Shore facility. Sponsored by the BC Yacht Brokers Association, this is the South Coast’s major fall floating boat show. Exhibits also include marine vendors and suppliers “on the water” in booths on a floating platform.

Show features this year include moorage for show-goers who arrive by boat ($25 per day plus special fuel dock rates), dedicated slips for sea-trial use and quiet rooms for broker-client meetings, daily educational seminars on site, children’s activities and canoe races.

Ladysmith Maritime Centre Opens

With congratulatory speeches, a navy brass band and a First Nations welcoming circle, the Ladysmith Maritime Society recently opened its new dockside Reception Centre. After a number of speakers advanced the welcoming nature of the facility for visiting boaters, local mariners and First Nations neighbours, the proposal to rename it officially a Welcoming Centre was appreciated the large and enthusiastic crowd. Mustang Survival released the following notice on September 5, 2012. In keeping with Mustang Survival’s commitment to the highest levels of quality and safety, we are notifying the public of an urgent advisory for specific Hydrostatic inflatable PFDs manufactured during April and May of 2012. A portion of these PFDs may be subject to delayed or non-inflations. The following Mustang Survival US and Canadian products are affected:

Bayfield Marine Turns 40 with Big April Events

Ron and Pat Reder started out in October 1984 across the road from where they are right now on the Bayfield River in Bayfield ON. The store front was about 10 x 20 and the rest of that side of the building was a stock room, wood finishing room, then behind that was more back stock and the lunchroom. Expanding every few years for the store front, then moving over to this new building five years ago, this year with Adam, Shelley, and Holly are carrying on the business.
