After a 22 year career as a yacht professional, culminating with a tint as skipper of a 140ft super yacht in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean, Zack Green decided it was time to return to his roots on the shores of Nova Scotia’s beautiful Mahone bay. With a young family Zack and his wife Jennifer realised a seagoing job was no longer viable option. Their original idea was for a kind of semi-retirement, buying and selling used boats, but what started with a cleared patch of land on the side of highway 103 near the Mahone Bay exit, has grown into a full service marine operation. Mahone Marine’s staff, including Zack’s wife Jennifer, provide customers with new and used boats sales as well as mechanical services and storage.

Mahone Marine has gone for quality in the new products it carries. The company is the exclusive Atlantic Canada dealer for Edgewater Boats and also carries well-known brands such as Robalo, Chaparral and Polar Craft boats. As a Yamaha and Mercury Mercruiser parts and service dealer Mahone Marine employs 4 service technicians with training from Yamaha, Mercury, Honda and Evinrude.  A new computer software program streamlines purchasing and inventory control.

 Mahone Marine’s 16 acre high visibility location allows plenty of room for winter storage and the display of both new and used boats.

Canadian Tammy Wolf Current Formula-3 Series Points Leader

The Formula 3, Region 6 Championships were held in beautiful Marietta, Ohio at the 12th annual Riverfront Roar. Formula powerboat racing has become the primary event in this quaint Ohio town. Once a year, this historic riverfront area is ignited into a powerboat racing arena. Thousands of people gather along the Ohio River to watch the powerboat races. Last Friday as race teams arrived to set up there pit area. Gary Williams, chair of the Riverfront Roar committee said “The turnout this year is great…Friday evening was very crowded and, we believe, set a record for the Riverfront Roar opening night attendance.”

Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show Enjoys Big Opening Day

The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show opened under partly cloudy skies Thursday as the biggest show yet in the event’s 54-year history and, judging by show-goer comments, one of the best.

Howard Blitstein timed his visit from Costa Rica to see his mother in Fort Lauderdale with the boat show. “It’s very busy for the first day,” he said. “I’ve seen a lot of new center console-type boats that I never heard of. I’m impressed with the boats.”

Bayfield Marine Turns 40 with Big April Events

Ron and Pat Reder started out in October 1984 across the road from where they are right now on the Bayfield River in Bayfield ON. The store front was about 10 x 20 and the rest of that side of the building was a stock room, wood finishing room, then behind that was more back stock and the lunchroom. Expanding every few years for the store front, then moving over to this new building five years ago, this year with Adam, Shelley, and Holly are carrying on the business.
